From Space Suits To Sounder Sleep: Mark Aramli On How To Improve Your Sleep
Greetings, SuperFriends!
In this episode, we sat down with Mark Aramli.
Mark is the inventor and principal engineer for the patented BedJet CCS. Mark's first engineering role was at United Technologies, builder of the space suit for NASA. His engineering responsibilities included the space suit primary life support system (PLSS), specifically elements relating to heating, cooling and climactic comfort of the interior space suit environment for the astronauts. But he's also worked on some other VERY interesting projects, as we learn in the episode.
My goal in the episode was to dive deeper on sleep than we have on previous episodes. Specifically, I wanted to learn about temperature, and how it effects our sleep. And, as always…Can we hack it? It's a great episode, and I know you're going to love it.
In this episode, we discuss:
- The trajectory of Mark Aramli's career, from NASA space suits, to hydrogen cars, to sleep technology
- Why did Mark Aramli change careers and go into the sleep industry?
- How exactly can we use temperature to improve our sleep?
- What does the research say about temperature and it's effects on sleep?
- What's the deal with BedJet, how does it work, and why is it innovative?
- What have the studies shown?
- How is sleep quality assessed in the lab?
- Are there any kind of interestingĀ bio hacks in the NASA space suit?
- What homework assignment that Mark Aramli would like to assign to you this week?
- How does Mark recommend you track your sleep?
- Mark Aramli's #1 productivity hack (surprising)
- Where to learn more about Mark Aramli & get in contact
- Mark's #1 biggest takeaway from this episode

loved th heart and the depth of the conversation. The way that Dr. Metivier shared from his enormous experience and insights was just amazing. Thank you Jonathan for doing this podcast!! š
Great interview with Dr. Greg Wells! He mentioned a doctor from Colorado around the 42:30 point of the podcast, discussing turmeric and black pepper. I couldnāt make out the doctorās name. Can you provide me with his full name and maybe his website or contact info. Interested in his products.
Thanks,
Rob
I am new here, and learning really fast.
Thank you.
Maybe oarts of the things he has to share are right, maybe not. If I look at him which impact his nurturing and living style has on himself I see a very old looking man! He is year 1973!! That is not old and he looks definitly much older!! If I would not know his birthyear I would guess that he is in his mid-60ies!! A bit concering for someone who claims his lifestyle is suitable for a long life, isn’t it?
